1967 Corvette Coupe 427/435

Legendary American icon!

A collector and driver's dream

$149,500

The 1967 Big Block Corvette Coupe:

This car is perhaps near the top of every car enthusiast’s bucket list; and with a 427 cubic inch mill pushing 435 horsepower, the L-71 is certainly at the top of every Corvette collector’s “gotta have it”  list. It’s also on Hagerty’s Blue Chip investment list, and after driving this car – we feel this particular car  is “the one to have!”  Dressed in a gorgeous Marina Blue exterior with black interior, this is the perfect marriage of beauty and brawn. It’s 49,000 original and documented miles also raise the desirability level of this car through the roof!

This is it!

The big dog!  The stinger hood!  Those magic numbers - “427/435HP.”  It’s the one that matters – the last year of production C-2  1967 Corvette with the high horsepower big block  L-71 – 427 / 435 hp with four speed Muncie M-21 transmission. If you wanted more power than an L71 in a ’67 Corvette, you needed to be one of the 20 people to order an L88 or one of the 16 to order the aluminum head L89 option for an L71 – these cars are “unobtanium” today! And they would cost you many multiples of the price tag of this one – (good luck finding a collector willing to part with one!)

The Details:

All numbers match on this car, the color trim codes are correct as are all of the date codes, and all are within proper production sequence / range. This car is gorgeous from every angle and in every respect, and has lived quite a pampered life.  Originally a California car – ordered in that gorgeous mid-‘60s hue of Marina Blue with standard black vinyl interior with the painted stinger hood in matching black. Other options include the above-mentioned L-71  427/435HP motor, Muncie M-21 four speed transmission, tinted glass, push button AM/FM radio, transistor ignition – (required on 427 / 435), posi-traction 3:36 rear axle ratio, the rare off-road exhaust and shoulder belts, too!  The car originally came with the California-only A.I.R. injector reactor emissions device, but it was likely tossed long ago once it moved out of the state. This is the ONLY thing missing in this car – all other parts are original, numbered and proper for this car. It is an NCRS Top Flight candidate, for sure!

History:

This car came to us from its previous owner who had owned it since 2004. It was once part of a large 600+ car collection – (owned for many years by Jerry Moore – a strip mall / real estate mogul from Houston, TX.) – and hence its low and original, documented 49k miles on the odometer.  The car had a frame-ON restoration – with the gorgeous Marina Blue paint color professionally re-applied, correct rallye wheels and trim rings, as well as new red-line radial tires added. The car was sold to Peter Klutt at Legendary Motors in 2003 and they had the original and matching motor completely rebuilt, adding a new clutch, ignition wires and anything / everything it needed. The exhaust manifolds were also treated to a Jet Hot coating – looking clean and correct while keeping the engine bay cool. The car has its original trim tags, jack, spare tire and manuals.  It is “all-there” and in mint condition – needing NOTHING to show and win or drive and enjoy!

There is nothing more “special” than the way a Corvette feels when its correct from the factory, like this one is. This frame-ON restoration preserves it’s original sleek drive-ability, while the drivetrain rebuild provides strong, peace of mind power and the beautiful re-paint, re-chrome and detailing make this car “pop” at any car show – local or NCRS. This car is very “right” for so many reasons. This is one of those cars that will impress even the most demanding and pickiest of Corvette collectors.
