Is there a more iconic American supercar than a 1960s C-2 Corvette? The 1967 Corvette Sting Ray was the last year of production of the second generation Corvette, benefitting from four previous years of refinements, making it the best of the line and the one to have. Forty-eight years later, C-2s are still stunning; definitely a high water mark for GM’s design team, a car that set the automotive world afire upon its debut, and continues to instill passion among automotive enthusiasts of all ages and genders. Is there a more sensuous design that has emerged from an automotive design studio - not named Pininfarina? Is it any wonder that the Corvette is the only American car that has been in continuous production since its debut? These C2 cars introduced and featured independent suspensions, four-wheel disc brakes, gorgeous coupe and convertible styling – all overseen by Zora Duntov. The C-2s were a vital step in the Corvette’s development –  this particular ’67 is a jewel to behold, drive, use and win at any show!

Attention!

Corvette aficionados, NCRS fans, investors, collectors of all things correct! - this particular car is a matching number: Vin, block, trans, rear, all matching numbers and correct date codes – with everything including carbs, radiator, block – all original / born-with on this car. It is GM trim tag correct / matching “976” Marina Blue exterior and rare and gorgeous “450” white and bright blue interior matching, as well. This car had a full frame-off, two-year, rotisserie restoration completed in 2006  by Marcel’s Corvette Shop – with documentation before, during and after the motor rebuild, bare-body re-spray and interior refurb. Odometer was reset at that time and it has only traveled 3k miles since the frame-off restoration. (Actual miles unknown)  When describing this car it’s hard to find the words – do I just say – “there’s nothing to say!” Yup, that describes it – it’s pretty perfect! - or should I go into the over the top hyperbole to make sure that you get my point on this car?  I guess I should start with a personal perspective – I have personally previously owned six 1967 Corvette Coupes – it is my favorite and I owned all of them at different points in my life and all were in differing but excellent shape. I have been involved with the Corvette hobby for almost 40 years and this particular one is by far the best one that has ever crossed my path – that’s why I bought it!!

Paint:

Body down to the bare glass, block sanded and painted in Marina Blue – accurate and mint finish.

Chrome:
(and all exterior stainless steel) – all re-done and gleaming - also in mint condition.

Engine:

The L-79 – 327 / 350 hp is also a favorite and highly sought after - high compression but with hydraulic lifters – it produces 350 hp and can run on today’s pump gas. High output small blocks are the way to go! Engine compartment is highly detailed as you would expect in a full frame off restoration and motor rebuild. All original ignition / radio shielding and important components including carb, intake manifold, radiator, etc… are all present, intact and are in perfect working order. This car starts easily and pulls strong runs with no hesitation. It is perfectly suited to drive everyday if you so choose – with a smooth shifting Muncie M-21 four speed transmission mated to a 3:36 rear-end ratio. 60 mph in fourth gear sits at 2,500 rpm or so. Never overheats, stalls or has any issues whatsoever – strong like bull!

Suspension:

All rubber bushings, shocks and steering gear were re-done at the time of the restoration and have been kept up as needed. Car handles extremely well, rides as smooth as can be expected from a ‘60s Corvette! and tracks perfectly straight with a very recent high-end four-wheel alignment being performed to factory specs by John at Arroway Chevrolet in Mt. Kisco, NY.

Brakes:

Refurbed with stainless steel calipers at time of the restoration – along with new pads. It stops straight and true – better than when new.

Interior:

Was re-done with an accurate Al Knoch interior with dyna-mat being laid down throughout the interior – keeping it cooler and quieter in the cabin - before gorgeous bright blue carpets and white door panels and seats were installed.  The dash is also extremely correct in the rare blue - matching the carpets. An interesting GM fact on this particular interior - “450” white / bright blue was only available with white vinyl from GM originally. The previous owner always wanted leather interior and asked Al Knoch to make him a set of white door panels and seat covers in white leather – they agreed and made him a set! That is the interior that is in the car now BUT we also have a brand new set of Al Knoch white vinyl seats and door panels, as well, (for you NCRS fanatics!)   All of the gauges have been re-furbed and every one works accurately including the clock and the gauge cluster looks perfect. The heater functions as it should. Additionally, the previous owner being from Florida, it has a brand new Vintage Air – air conditioning unit – that has been added, that integrates into the original heater controls. It blows cold at 34 degrees and looks stock in the interior and under the hood.  Additionally, the previous owner had this system installed by a very professional shop that has done dozens of these installs in warm weather Florida for lots of Corvette club guys – so there is a box of all of the original heater parts and control lines if someone ever chooses to revert back to the original - everything is there - documented and in one box.

To Summarize:

White leather interior installed currently and white vinyl interior – new and in a box. Vintage Air - air conditioning installed with all original heater parts and lines available – documented in one box.

C-2 Corvettes are a great investment – with ’67 Coupes at the top of the food chain. To say that this two year restoration is over the top would be an understatement. It is simply gorgeous. It is not “over-restored” – just very correctly done with great body gaps, fantastic paint and interior details in a beautiful and rare color combination. It has been a pride of ownership car before and since the 2006 restoration and it would be the pride of anyone’s collection today.

As I said before, there is “not much to say” on this pretty, perfect car - except that it is truly a jewel.

Note that 2017 will mark this car’s 50th anniversary…..our market analysis concludes that interested parties would be well advised to buy it now before prices skyrocket!

This stunning example is firmly and confidently offered at $79,500.
